Help: ribbed

It makes you auto-dcc several suggestive files, all ending in .JPG.BAT, and some new strains use !!!*.html, enticing people to accept it, to anyone joining a channel that you're on. If they accept it and run it, they in turn will be infected and start sending it out as well. Given the idiotic defaults of Windows to hide certain file extensions, the accepted file will look like a harmless JPG or HTML file, enticing people to accept it, whilst in fact it's a BAT file that infects your computer.

Follow these steps to manually remove it:

• quit mIRC
• open dos window and type the following commands:
• del c:\winsys98.bat
• del c:\mirc\script.ini
• del c:\mirc\mirc.ini
• edit c:\autoexec.bat
• delete the line containing winsys98.bat
• reboot

No file fix is available for this virus.
