Help: script.ini
Script.ini was created to steal channel and nickname passwords on those networks which run Services of some kind. It was quickly modified to do many other things, including but not limited to:
- Relaying private conversations to a third party or channel.
- Providing access to your hard disk by means of a DCC server.
- Attempting (unsuccessfully) to grab your windows password file.
- Allowing others to take control of your IRC session.
- Allowing others to force you off the network by issuing a keyword.
- Deleting key windows system files if you attempt to remove it incorrectly.
- Forcing you to leave channels when certain words are used on the channel or are present in the channel title bar.
- Allowing others to run programms on your computer.
To remove this virus, please follow these instructions:
- Type "/remote off" - this will temporarily turn off your remote events.
- Then click the alt + r keys - click on View and select script.ini
- Select File-Unload and Ok
- Close your mIRC program
- Go to the mIRC Folder and DELETE script.ini
- Download the latest version of mIRC here. It has a fix to prevent you from being infected.
- Start up mIRC and type "/sreq ask" to tell mIRC to ask you before accepting a file.
- And finally, type "/remote on" to re-enable your remote events.
No file fix is available for this virus.
